Below is the latest update from the Central Michigan District Health Department (CMDHD) on the Septic Tank Ordinance. The findings of the 543 septic inspections received as of 10-2-2024, by the Central Michigan District Health Department (CMDHD) from Lyon Township, are as follows:
Of the 543 received:
- 256 are in compliance with no action required
- 146 in compliance with action recommended
- 141 are not in compliance
- 92 did not meet isolation – (the well is closer than safe standards to the septic system)
- 44 are substandard – (less than 50% of current code size requirements)
- 31 have major septic tank deficiencies – (cracks, leaks, etc.)
- 8 – did not meet the minimum criteria due to more minor issues
- 7 did not meet minimum criteria – (due to backup of the system)
- 5 had no system identified – (not found)
- 2 did not meet minimum criteria – (due to lack of maintenance)
- 1 failed due to bypass of the system
